Becoming a Vanguard Member of the AAOF,
a Simple Choice to Give Back
I am currently attending the University of Southern California, arguably one of the most expensive Orthodontic residencies in the nation. Why would I therefore make a pledge of $25,000 to become an AAOF Vanguard Society Member and an AAOF Regent??
The answer is a simple one. It is a choice of service and giving back to the profession that we all love. In August 2009 I became aware of the mission of the AAOF and was inspired to offer my support by pledging at the Regent level. Pledging while a resident would allow me to be a Vanguard Society member. As of January 31, 2009, 1029 individuals have become Vanguard Society Members, 40 at the Regent ($25,000) level (8 pledged while a Resident and 30 upgraded to Regent after graduation). Think of your pledge as a long-term donation. Your Vanguard Pledge may be fulfilled over a five-year period, with the initial payment postponed until five years after graduation. Essentially you will have ten years to meet your pledge. If you pledge at the Regent level, you will have 15 years! I look forward to the rewards of being an orthodontist, but also the opportunities to support many different causes. I challenge orthodontists and residents alike to support the mission of the AAOF and their continued commitment to our specialty. Look beyond your current economic situation and make a pledge today to support the future of Orthodontic Education by supporting the AAOF. The simple choice is yours. |
